Stories Assignment - Digital Media Communication

Vinyls were created in the 19th century by Thomas Edison but now more than ever vinyls are undergoing a major resurgence. It is once again considered cool to collect vinyls, although when getting into vinyls it may seem daunting, they are actually rather simple.

Vinyls are just one way to appreciate the medium of music, by being able to touch something tangible it makes you feel more in tune with the music itself, not to mention it is exceptionally satisfying to be able to sit and watch your collection gradually grow over time.

It may shock you to learn that to get into vinyl collection bottomless amounts of wealth are not remotely required. Around one hundred and fifty pounds is a perfect amount to get yourself a decent turntable and vinyls are cheap as chips if you know where to look. Most local record shops have large sections for second hand vinyls; these can vary in price to as cheap as five pounds, possibly even lower. However please note more often than not newer album  releases and certain categories of music such as hiphop are rarely in these sections and buying new would be your best bet. Another thing that definitely needs to be mentioned is that you must be wary when buying vinyls online. The fragile nature of the record can mean that all it takes is a careless delivery and your vinyl will no longer be usable. Some record sites are much more reliable than others such as buying directly from the artist themselves, most artists have official merchandise sites and you can usually pick up the record for cheap by cutting out the middleman.

Like me, if you are wanting to make vinyl collecting more exciting and less predictable then I would recommend that you abstain from buying your records online unless there is one that you particularly want. The reason I do this is because it makes blundering across a record that you want  a treat, trust me there is only a few things more satisfying than finding a vinyl that you have been hunting down for months. Not to mention it helps to support local businesses in your area. You will not regret it.
